Torrey Highlands Real Estate Information

Developed relatively recently in 2000, Torrey Highlands has quickly become a primary residential community for the city of San Diego. Technically located in the North County Inland area, Torrey Highlands is also quite close to many of the region’s coastal areas. The community is bordered to the north by Black Mountain Ranch, to the south by Rancho Penasquitos, to the west by Pacific Highlands Ranch, and to the northwest by Fairbanks Ranch. State Route 56 runs through the center of Torrey Highlands and provides convenient access to the coast as well as downtown San Diego. Both interstates I-5 and I-15 provide exceptionally quick drive times to the rest of California.

Torrey Highlands is still very much under construction because of its relatively young history. However, the neighborhoods are very close-knit and very family-oriented. These qualities attract the attention of prospective residents. The hub or social center of Torrey Highlands is the 90,000 square foot Torrey Highlands Village Center that features an Albertsons Supermarket, Golf Etc., Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill, and a number of other retail stores and restaurants. The new Plaza 56 Business Center includes spaces for medical firms, biotechnology labs, and a number of other company offices. Del Mar Highlands Town Center, just outside of the Torrey Highlands area, is a popular entertainment area and also includes several national brand retailers.

Recreation is a major part of Torrey Highlands life. Los Penasquitos Canyon Reserve and Torrey Highlands Dog Park are both popular recreational hotspots for residents to enjoy the San Diegan sun and partake in several different popular activities. Torrey Highlands Park, Carmel Creek Park, Carmel Mission Park, and Overlook Park are other nearby parks that host a variety of different events.

Westview High School is actually located in Rancho Penasquitos and is operated as part of the Poway Unified School District. The school uses a unique 4 by 4 class schedule for the school year, meaning that the school uses quarters instead of semesters or trimesters and each student takes four courses each quarter. This results in students completing several more courses each year. This set-up has resulted in some impressive test results, making the school one of the most successful in the area.
