Mission Hills Real Estate Info

The neighborhood of Mission Hills is located on the hills just south of the San Diego River valley and north of downtown San Diego. The primarily residential area is populated most with houses and apartments although a number of small shops and restaurants line some of Mission Hills’ streets. Most of the houses are vintage properties, developed in the early 20th century but carefully preserved and restored. Several modern homes have also been built in Mission Hills, although the charm and unique atmosphere created by the rustic houses is still the most treasured part of the community.

The University of San Diego is just across the I-8 interstate from Mission Hills. The institution offers more than sixty bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs and consists of six schools. The five professional schools are in business administration, leadership and education sciences, law, nursing and health science, and peace studies. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest and includes the most programs. Created in 1949, the private university hosts almost 5,000 students. Many of the over seven hundred faculty members live in Mission Hills because of the area’s close proximity to the university Alcala Park campus.

As part of the Mission Valley community, Mission Hills residents take advantage of the Fashion Valley mall. The shopping center is filled with spectacular boutique stores as well as several department stores like Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s, and Nordstrom. Several interesting restaurants have locations there as well.

Presidio Park, Heritage Park, and Mission Hills Park join the Riverwalk Golf Course in providing Mission Hills residents with some of the best recreational opportunities available. Many residents find that living in Mission Hills allows them to work in San Diego during the day and retreat to their suburban home in the evenings to exercise, dine, and have fun with their families.

San Diego International Airport’s Lindbergh is less than a mile away from Mission Hills and is a simple drive underneath the I-5 interstate. As the busiest single-runway airport in the nation and second busiest in the world, the airport is served by dozens of carriers offering regional, domestic, and international flights to destinations around the world. Residents of Mission Hills enjoy the convenience of being just minutes from a wide variety of flights destined for a number of places.
